The Big Dart / La Grosse Pince

Photo Sarah Vickers
I can be quite obsessed.
I pinned this a year ago and all that time I have been wondering how to make this dress. I have bought McCall's 4769 thinking it would help and thought if I looked at this picture long enough I could make one but I was actually stumped until I sent the picture to Julie who said "It looks like you draw triangles sticking out of the side seams of the bodice (the bottom of the triangle would be even with the waistline), and attach the straps to the pointed end of the triangles that stick out. When you put it on, you cross the triangles and straps around the front of your body and then wrap them around the back."
Triangles yeah!

Muslin 2 : I'll probably be moving the big huge dart to the side, I have too much fabric in the front.
/

I'll fix the funky shoulder thing and will copy the finish on this Valentino dress which is way cleaner.

I'm almost there... but progress is slow as the weather is very nice and I'd rather go to the beach...so I you have suggestions to speed up this muslin process, I'll take them.

    Raaaaah !

    Merci !
