Butin!

On ne peut qu'adorer une liste des fournitures qui contient un kit de réparation de soutien-gorge!
Dès que j'ai vu ce patron, sur Sewaholic, j'ai voulu faire cette robe, il me fallait le patron, il est arrivé. J'ai une  petite question pour vous, avez-vous déjà cousu dans une housse de couette Ikea?

J'ai acheté ce tissu pour la faire, en solde chez Ikea €1.50m, mais, j'ai aussi acheté une housse de couette et je me demande si ça ne serait pas un meilleur choix?

Pendant que vous réfléchissez, ça va vous amuser de savoir que j'y ai aussi acheté des ciseaux de couture! J'ai fait la réflection à la gentille dame du rayon, pendant que je coupais mon tissu, que ses ciseaux coupaient très bien et elle m'a dit : "Vous pouvez en acheter!" Ce qui fut fait. Un total de €12.98 pour les 2 paires, ils ont un bon poids et ils coupent! Quand je pense que j'ai acheté des ciseaux à cranter qui n'ont jamais rien coupé à un prix de fou! Voici une très bonne solution pour les couturières débutantes.

Mes fans FB savent que je cherchait partout des pinces à ourlet et elles sont arrivées. Ça a l'air de grosses pinces à cheveux, mais pour le tissu. Elles vont me servir quand je vais travailler le cuir un peu plus tard cette année.

You have to love a pattern that asks for a bra repair kit in the notions!

I saw that pattern on Sewaholic and I had to have it and make it! Now Tasia and I can have a muumuu sewalong! I have a question for you : have any of you ever sewn an Ikea duvet cover? 

I was at Ikea's the other day and picked this fabric (€1.50m) to make the dress and I am having second thoughts as I also bought a duvet cover on sale and I think it would be such a better choice of fabric.

While pondering that question, you might be entertained by the fact that when in Ikea, you have to cut your own fabric and I was saying to the young lady there that their scissors cut really well and she said you can buy some. So I did! They cost a grand total of €12.98 for the pair. They have a nice weight and the pinking shears really work (I bought some really expensive ones that were frustrating to work with). Consider this a solution for you beginners out there.

My FB fans also know I wanted hem turners and they came in the mail this week. I found them here. They are like hairpins for fabric and I think they'll come in handy when I start working with leather.

Clearing House Giveaway

There is not much sewing going on here because I am in the process of moving furniture around to make way for a sewing space where, you know, my sewing machine would stay where it is. I am quite excited by that prospect and both Mr and Jr CarmencitaB are quite happy that the dining/homework/sewing/crafting table will not be squatted anymore by notions and fabric for weeks on end.

When you move your house around, you discover hidden piles of "to be dealt with later" stuff which I am slowly going through. I am cutting magazine pages with nifty couture details and inspiration, making a scrapbook for Jr and generally getting rid of clutter and stuff that pick up dust ( I hate dusting!).

This t-shirt is waiting to be refashioned and I might just do that this week, a quick reward to myself for being such a good girl. I actually picked up 3 of them in a garbage bag, they are not in pristine condition, they have sweat stains and need to be worked on but, if you are inspired and want one for refashioning, tell me what you'd do with it in the comments, I'll send you one.

Je Nettoie Et Je Donne

On ne coud pas beaucoup ces jours-ci parce qu'on bouge des meubles pour trouver une petite place à ma machine à coudre où, elle resterait accessible en tout temps. Cette perspective m'enchante et même messieurs CarmencitaB sont heureux de savoir que la table de cuisine ne sera plus squattée par ma pile de projets et disponible pour d'autres activités que la couture.
Quand on bouge tout, on redécouvre les piles de "trucs à faire plus tard" qu'on a oubliées et lentement, je m'en débarrasse. Je découpe les magazines, je fais un book pour Jr et je range ou jète, c'est selon, tout ce qui ramasse de la poussière (j'aime pas faire la poussière!).
Je suis une bonne fille et pour me récompenser, je vais prendre un peu de temps pour refaçonner ce t-shirt cette semaine. J'en ai trouvé 3 dans un sac poubelle, pas en très bon état, avec taches de sueur  et petits trous, ils doivent être refaits.
